Lots of Ice

This tour is a great overview for the glaciers in Alaska. The interpreter is very knowledgeable and the captain of the boat is very adept at bringing the baot close to the glaciers in oreder for the group to see "calving". Slowly melting....

The Portage Glacier is slowly melting -- it has receeded a lot in the past years. Go see it while it's still there. In the Visitor Center you can also touch icebergs, chunks of which are "harvested" from the lake daily.
