Alaska, undoubtedly, has spectacular scenery. But the folks that live and work there are what make the place incredible. Take for example Bill and Barbara de Creeft who, for almost 30 years, have owned and operated Kachemak Bay Flying Service. We met them at an vintage aircraft fly-in in Arizona. But what impressed us more than their exquisite 1929 airplane was their warmth and humor. Swapping histories we discovered they were from Homer Alaska and he was three times named Alaska Man of the Year and once Alaska Man of the Decade for daring rescues. But, modest to ...
