End it with a late lunch or dinner back in Burlington-there are certainly plenty of interesting and good restaurants to choose from! more on GeckoGo

And plan to spend the day starting in the early morning from Burlington along the Lake, to the bike ferry ($1 please), to the narrow train-track-turned-bike-path that crosses the Lake with the water calm and smooth on the one side of you and the wind whipping up waves and whitecaps on the other! more on GeckoGo

One Day in Burlington

One Day in Burlington

by Rene Agredano

I've wandered the U.S. in search of the ultimate small, progressive and outdoorsy place to live. After three years on the road, I can say with certainty that Burlington is one of my top 3 favorites. As a West Coast native, I've become accustomed to a quality of life that is lacking in much of this country: healthy living, recreation-based lifestyles and open-minded political leanings. Burlington has all of these qualities and more, but without any of the pretentiousness that ruins many West Coast cities. If you can spend more than a day getting to know this incredible place, do it. Bike around town, hang out at the Marketplace, check out the nightlife. It's a college town but the wide variety of ages and tastes gives it a more sophisticated touch than the average university-based city. You might just want to stay a while. more >
