I agree, went there in the 90s. At $6 a day it was appropriately priced for an older place that required little overhead with the older buildings. At $20 per day you'd expect a world class spa. Even at that, it prices out most of the middle income people that used to visit and keep them in business. Dumb greedy business tactics that usually result in a failed business owner having to sell it later.

Me and my wife are 70+. We use the spring for years for wellness and relax. We moved to North Port 3 years ago for retirement just because of the Spring. Since the first visit 15 years ago, the entry price became madly high and without any basis. In Glenwood Springs, CO they have very modern and sophisticated facilities that require a lot of attention and the entry price is $15. Here is, dilapidated facilities, no water treatment, and the entry fee is $20. The stuff is rude and unprofessional. Just yesterday I was rudely abused for filling plastic bottle with mineral water from the lake. The stuff was referred to some rules I could not see. The wall display of the rules does not say anything about taking bottle of water from the lake. The actual rules are not accessible for visitors. They proudly posted at the Spring entrance that 9 millions gallons of minerals issue from the spring a day and this water is spilled out through the side small river. At the same time, we were warned that if we take bottle of the water outside, we will be evicted from the Spring without reimbursement. Finely, instead of get relaxed we get stressed for our own money - we pay twice for the Spring: 1/ through our taxes and 2/ entrance fee. So, the National treasure is given in the hands of terrible management. There is no future for the resort with this kind of management.

That looks amazing. We are headed out there in the late spring and although we do a lot of hiking, I am concerned about the heat. Do you know what it would be like in early May? I know we can handle it but if it is miserable we might try to go as much as a month earlier.

A modest, personal rebuttle:

Traffic - Yes, Austin is congested. Which city worth living in isn't?

No Smoking - There's a big warning on those labels for a reason. Quit and stop raising my fellow non-smokers' health insurance rates.

"Liberal Mecca" - Sweet, delicious conservative tears. Cry more, sheltered, religious n00b.

Longhorn Fans - "College Loyalty Hurp Derp". You can't say Aggies in College Station or any other Texas college town are not anti-UT to some degree.

Bikes - 50%, really? Wah, cry some more. Admit it, Denmark is doing it right. Austin is just playing catchup.

Allergies - Yeah, it sucks for some people. Move to where your allergies aren't going wild. Alternately, stock up on anti-allergy meds.

Cost of living - Still lower than the national average. The market will suffer drink prices that people are willing to pay for. There are plenty of non-downtown pub places worth going to.

Politicians - Really? This is a point worth being concerned over?

Green Lifestyle - Get with the times. Trashing is out; recycling is here to stay. Why aren't you recycling more?!

Live Music - ... How is this a downside?

Bats - "Hurrr they eat insects, which is bad amirite?"
