New Years Eve in Las Vegas
Las Vegas is one of the top destinations for tourists to celebrate New Years Eve. Expect the best hotels in Las Vegas to be sold out, but it’s also likely that if you book now, there may be some deals to be had.
Las Vegas Strip and Fireworks Show
The best and most economic place to celebrate is right on the Las Vegas strip under all of the fireworks. The strip is closed down and only open to pedestrians. Watch as Las Vegas Blvd is transformed in to the world’s largest night club with about a half million dollars worth of fireworks going off over your head. Keep in mind that Vegas will be warmer than New York and you can also drink on the Vegas strip, but not at Time Square.
Pure Nightclub at Caesars Palace
A spot on the patio at Pure will get you a great view of the fireworks show and all of people crowding the street below. The Pure party starts at 10pm and dress to impress because it’s likely that you’ll be rubbing elbows with some of the hottest celebrities in town. Don’t forget Paris Hilton’s star performance in a champagne glass at the Pussycat Doll Lounge inside of Pure. You never know what celebrity will decide to show up and entertain the crowd.
You can see that the theme at Pure is just that. All the white curtains and white furniture signifies the word pure. However, that is one thing that Pure is not.
Rain at the Desert in the Palms
If you want to dance the night away consider making your reservations at Rain. Located on the ground floor of the Palms newest tower Rain is one of the largest nightclubs in Las Vegas. With over 25,000 square feet of space and extraordinary special effects including (of course) water and fire surrounding the dance floor, you can’t go wrong at Rain at the Desert.
There are a few private areas in Rain for you to mingle with your own crowd. There are also some big cozy booths that surround the dance floor so you never have to be too far away.
The music at Rain will get your groove going from the moment you walk in. Try to make your way to the top of the club so you can get a look down at the dance floor.
LAX Nightclub at the Luxor
Enjoy two stories of sexy sophistication at LAX. Expect to be hob nobbing with some VIPs and make yourself feel like one by reserving a VIP table while taking in the scenery. LAX is the brain child of the Pure Management Group along with investors like Christina Aguilera and DJ AM so you can be certain that it will be an all star experience.
Party like the rich and famous and have a New Years you’ll never forget at LAX. LAX was voted one of the best places to spot celebrities, so make sure you bring your camera. You never know who will be making surprise appearances when you are partying at one of the newer and hottest nightclubs in Vegas.
Ghost Bar at the Palms
High above the strip you can really take everything in at the Ghost Bar. Located on the 55th floor of the Palms Casino, the view on the Las Vegas Strip is like no other. The ghost bar is a sultry, chic and smaller nightclub so don’t wait to make your reservations.
There is both a dance floor inside and outside on the patio for those that dare to dance on the thick sheet of plexiglass that hangs over the edge of the hotel.
It is sure to be a packed house at the Ghost Bar, but you can still find some privacy at the VIP tables located throughout the venue.
The Ghost Bar also has some of the best martinis in Vegas. Try a cosmo or a lemon drop to greet 2009.
Tao at the Venetian
Quite possible the sexiest party spot in all of Las Vegas Tao has it all. Not only is there an amazing restaurant downstairs, but there is an exotic Tao Beach above the nightclub.
Expect to be grooving on the dance floor to some of the best music in town while you are surrounded by some of the hottest go-go dancers in Vegas. Tao also has added its signature bathing beauties to its sultry experience, so this is not for the shy or timid club goer.
There is nothing left to be desired at Tao, you can really have it all there. This place is usually packed on a regular night, so be prepared for a friendly crowd and tight quarters on the dance floor.
Moon Nightclub at the Palms
Moon is located in the Palms fantasy tower just above the Playboy Club. This striking lounge and illuminated dance floor offers club goers a very unique experience. Pay attention to the dance floor because it will change colors or designs.
Moon is so elegant and contemporary and has such a space age feel. The Jetsons could have only dreamed of having a nightclub like Moon. Not only is the venue filled with sleek and sexy furniture, there is also a retractable roof so you can dance under the stars and be close to them too.
The N9NE group has really raised the bar when they added Moon to their portfolio of top notch entertainment.
LAVO at the Palazzo
Is it a nightclub, a bathhouse or a restaurant? It’s all of the above.
One of Vegas’s newest attractions and brought to you by the creators of Tao, Lavo will not disappoint you. With an intimate setting surrounded by some of Tao’s signature bathing beauties, you can be sure that an evening at Lavo will entertain all of your senses.
This luxurious Mediterranean and Roman themed club is like nothing else you will find on the strip. There is great music, intimacy and plenty of cub goers dancing on the furniture.
Privé at Planet Hollywood
As soon as you enter Privé you will be greeted by the enormous main bar. With the feel of South Beach and the Miami vibe you will most definitely want to get your salsa on at Privé. Plan on a full night of dancing so make sure you rest up for this Latin themed venue.
Located on the mezzanine level at the already sexy Planet Hollywood casino you can be sure that there will be eye candy everywhere you look.
There are often surprise performances and even celebrity guests, so odds are you will by living the high life at Privé. The decor of the night club is breathtaking and the service is bar none.
Studio 54 at MGM Grand
This is a high energy and livelier version of the 70s nightclub it is named after. There are four dance floors and four bars. Studio 54 was opened in 1997 and brings you the nostalgia of three decades of great times and great music.
It may be a 70s theme, but there is nothing old about the style and luxury found inside Studio 54. You can find live dancers and feel the beat of the state of the art sound system while you dance the night away in this enormous 22,000 square foot facility.
Studio 54 also offers some semi private lounges for you and up to 400 of your closest friends to ring in the new year.
You may want to consider calling their hot line for VIP or bottle service reservations at 702-891-7279.
Once you decide which one of these venues will be your New Years Eve hot spot here are a few things you need to know.
- Dress to impress. All of these clubs have a dress code which usually includes a collared shirt for men and no tennis shoes. Wear comfortable shoes. If you don’t have a VIP table reserved it’s likely you’ll be standing up all night long.
- Buy tickets ahead of time. Don’t think you’ll be able to show up there late. You’ll end up counting down to the new year while standing in line to get inside the club. Most tickets range from $125-$250 for what is called “front of the line service”.
- Bring your ID. All of these night clubs are for crowds of 21 and older and they will ask you to verify that.
- Rest up. Don’t think you’ll countdown to midnight and then go to bed. Most of these venues will be pumping until 4 or 5 am.
- Be open minded. It’s Vegas and you know what they say. People tend to cut loose on New Years so expect a wild night.

It can certainly be crazy down there on New Year’s Eve. I’ve celebrated the occasion down there numerous times. Definitely be prepared to get there early if you’re driving. Traffic can be crazy as they close Las Vegas Blvd. and several freeway exits entering into the resort corridor. But it is a lot of fun and totally worth it.
