Last month, Debbie Dubrow of Delicious Baby contacted me about spreading the word of a joint endeavor between Debbie, Pam Mandel of Nerd’s Eye View, Michelle Duffy of WanderMom and Beth Whitman of Wanderlust and Lipstick, called Passports with Purpose. This travelblogger fundraiser is in support of Heifer International, a non-profit organization that seeks to eliminate hunger and poverty around the globe.
Many generous bloggers and sponsors have donated prizes; the complete list is available here, and all would make great gifts for the traveler on your list. It is easy to buy a raffle ticket through FirstGiving – be sure to specify which prize you are interested in when you donate. You can buy raffle tickets until December 29th.
Heifer International’s mission is to help lift the world’s poorest people out of poverty, by giving them the
means to support themselves. Through Heifer, families are given animals that can help stave off starvation and provide income. Even a small amount of money helps. $20 (the cost of two raffle tickets) purchases a flock of chicks who feed on scraps, but produce both food and income for a family. The goal of Passports with Purpose is to raise $5000 for Heifer International!
A complete list of prizes and more information about how to get involved is available at Passports with Purpose.

I am so happy to see this fundraiser within the travel blogger community, I’ve supported Heifer for years. They are a great group and seeing my niece get excited about receiving a “flock of chicks” as a stocking stuffer was pretty sweet. Thanks!
Not only did a lot of travel bloggers donate items for the raffle, but most of us seem to be buying raffle tickets as well! THere’s some stiff competition going on for a few of the items – very exciting.

Sharon – I am new to supporting Heifer, although I have known about them for years. It was not until I read more about their programs that I became interested in supporting them, and that was because of this travelblogger fundraiser. Always better with a personal recommendation!
Jennifer – yes, I have noticed that same thing. I am a little worried that I have signed up for items along with the rest of the world. I understand there are great prizes with no interest yet, I might have to go back in and make another donation!
Cheers!
