Haunted Corn Maze Sign

Haunted Corn Maze Sign

The phenomenon of the corn maze has become very popular around the United States.  Cutting an intricate pattern into a corn field and then charging admission for people to attempt to get through it has become commonplace.  As Halloween approaches, many corn mazes change their family-fun focus and create haunted mazes that may or may not be appropriate for children.  These haunted corn mazes add the element of scare to wandering around a cornfield at night.

I’ve only been in a corn maze once.  It was in broad daylight and the place was deserted.  I had three preschoolers and a baby in a front carrier.  We paid our admission at an orchard and then drove 1/2 mile to the maze, fortunate that an orchard employee had given us a map of the maze.  It was a scary prospect for me, because there was no one within shouting distance and I was afraid I’d either 1) trip and fall and lie there helpless with four little kids running around, or 2) lose one of the kids in the maze.  That’s as much of a scare as I was willing to encounter.

If you’re up for a real scare in a haunted corn maze, however, check out one of these options for a frightful time:
