La Jolla,
California is a seaside community located within the city of San Diego.
With its year round beaches and fantastic weather, this is the perfect vacation
destination. Take a self-guided walking tour of the town using the map provided
by the town that lets you know where all the landmarks are located. Tee off at
the Torrey
Pines Municipal Golf Course or take in the family fun at one of the many
other tourist attractions. Stay at one of the many hotels and taste the fine
cuisine offered in the restaurants.
Walk along the beach of La
Jolla Shores or take beginner scuba diving lessons. This area is adjacent
to the San Diego La Jolla Underwater Ecological Reserve and as such visitors are
prohibited from taking anything from this beach. This is the only beachfront boat
launch within the city limits and with a separate section reserved for
swimming and surfing. There is a lifeguard on duty here when the beach is open,
which varies depending on the time of the year.
Have a full day of fun at the Stephen
Birch Aquarium and Museum where the wonders of the underwater world come
alive before your eyes. Travel through the Hall of Fishes and Sharks in one
of sixty exhibits showcasing marine life of the Pacific Northwest to the
Caribbean. If you are in La Jolla during the time of the annual gray whale
migration, you can also visit a traveling exhibit about the voices of the
whales.
