If you’re into star gazing, make sure to stop by Griffith Observatory which is open again after a multiple year restoration project.  For great food, shopping and a chance to feel like you’ve stepped into another country take an afternoon to wander along Olvera Street, one of the oldest locations in Los Angeles that illustrates it’s Hispanic origins as a Mission outpost.  End any evening with a stroll along the nearby beaches or a ride at the Santa Monica pier boardwalk.
