If you are looking for a destination for your next family vacation where there are miles of beaches, then Malibu California is your answer. The Pacific Coast Highway passes right through this city. There are numerous types of lodging available and restaurants serving international cuisine. The pristine beaches are the main tourist attractions, but there is a fantastic network of trails that are perfect for walking and hiking.

The Leo Carillo State Park features a cave, an RV campground and a secluded cove. The beach is mountainous and is part of the Sierra Nevada chain. The beach is 15 miles long offering many opportunities for surfing, swimming, windsurfing and beachcombing. There are guided walks and nature programs available from the interpretation center on the beach and in the summer there are educational programs for the children.

You will need more than one day if you want to explore the 530 acres of the Charmlee Wilderness Park. It is open every day from 8 A.M. to sunset. Here you can play on the gentle slopes of the Santa Monica Mountains, enjoy guided nature walks and hike the 8 miles of trails. There is a nature center and native plant displays providing an educational experience for every member of the family.

Other attractions in Malibu that will make this family vacation extra special include Point Muga State Park, with its 70 miles of hiking trails, and the Zuma Beach State Park with its great area of swimming and a lifeguard on duty.
