17-Mile Drive follows a stretch of gorgeous California coastline and winds itself through wind-swept cypress groves and past rocky lookouts. Plan to stop and stretch your legs at least a few times at one of the many beaches or vista points, and allow at least an hour if you want to do the whole thing. (It could easily fill two.) The road is swervy in places, so it's probably not the best Monterey activity for those prone to motion sickness. Otherwise, the views are unmatchable and this drive is not to be missed.
