About Sacramento

In California’s capital, Sacramento, things to do are easy to come by! If you enjoy history, a visit to Sutter’s Fort State Park, where the California Gold Rush all began, is a must. Old Sacramento has over 28 acres to explore   including strolling along the wooden plan “sidewalks,” walking along the river, and shopping in the many boutique shops and eateries.  If you’re a train enthusiast, stop by the California State Railroad Museum, where you can explore authentic trains as they used to look. The California State Capitol and Museum is a beautiful 19th century granite building and is beautiful example of American Renaissance architecture.  Families with small children will enjoy a visit to Fairytale Town, a small park geared toward younger children.

If you like looking outside for things to do, Sacramento has plenty of options here as well. Head over to lovely McKinley Park and jog the trails, feed the ducks in the pond or simply enjoy the trees and scenic view. Paradise Beach has a beautiful sandy beach and is a great spot for swimming and skimboarding. The American River Parkway is a beautiful wildlife preserve in the heart of Sacramento, and things to do here include enjoying the wildlife, fishing, boating and hiking.   Art lovers can spend an afternoon in the Crocker Art Museum, housed in a 19th century mansion.

Other things to do in Sacramento include checking out the city’s great nightlife scene! Nightclubs, karaoke bars sports bars and plenty of movie theaters can all be found in downtown Sacramento.
