Philadelphia's biggest gem might be their food, but their hidden gem is their scenic golf courses. All nestled within driving distance of downtown Philadelphia, these golf courses are convenient to access from Philadelphia's major highways and are surprisingly cheap for the entire family. Here are some of our recommendations.
Walnut Lane Golf Club. Philadelphia's most famous golf course, Walnut Lane is located within the heart of Philadelphia, with golf courses friendly enough for beginner players to try out. Walnut Lane is only open between March and November, with their peak season in June. Try a round of golf during the weekday to get their cheapest rate -- $21. More importantly, you must reserve your spot in advance to gain access to Philadelphia's most beautiful golf course.
McCall Golf and Country Club. Located just minutes away in Highland Park, Pennsylvania, McCall truly is a call from the mundane, with 18 private golf rounds surrounded by forests of green maples and clear blue skies. Most people travel to McCall to wind down after a busy work day. Visitors traveling here should ask the locals about the other attractions around McCall as well, including lodging available (McCall currently does not offer any). Otherwise, feel free to golf at their affordable rates. McCall's golf courses are not easy, so make sure your golf game is up to par.
