Breathtaking

We've lived in the area for a number of years and love going out to the dunes to play. The kids love taking plastic round sleds out to slide down the dunes. We were stationed at Holloman AFB for several years and White Sands was one of my favorite places to visit. A true gem in the middle of the desert. Directions

Getting There The visitor center is located on U.S. Highway 70, 15 miles (24 km) southwest of Alamogordo and 52 miles east of Las Cruces, New Mexico. Travelers from Carlsbad Caverns to southern Arizona can follow U.S. 82 through the scenic Sacramento Mountains to reach White Sands National Monument.

The monument is open daily, except Christmas Day.
