Poplar Grove plantation satisfies on many levels. It features a beautiful antebellum peanut plantation from circa 1850. Besides the stately house there is also a restored tenant farmer's cabin on the grounds; both are rich in history and information about North Carolina's past. The acreage surroudning the house has many different hiking trails that will take you through coastal forests and wetlands. And, if you happen to visit in May, you'll be treated to the Down Home Antique Fair, which sets up shop at Poplar Grove.
