The Red Pagoda that sits atop Mount Penn has become the symbol of the city itself. Constructed in 1908 as a high-end resort, the Pagoda is now on the National Register of Historic Places and is the crown jewel of Mount Penn Reserve. The Pagoda contains a gift shop and café, and visitors can enjoy a spectacular view of Reading from the Pagoda grounds on top of Mount Penn and explore the Mount Penn Reserve.
