My favorite Newport mansion

The Elms was the best of the four mansions we toured in Newport. If I could choose to live in one of the these magnificent summer homes, I would certainly pick the Elms. Do not miss the Elms

The Elms ranks with the Breakers and Marble House as one of the most opulent, interesting of the Newport mansions. It is hard to imagine that it was slated for demolition in the early 1960s to make room for a shopping center. Luckily, the Preservation Society saved it and it is well worth a visit...
