The oldest courthouse in the state of Tennessee is located right in Murfreesboro. Built in 1857, the unique dome-like structure that towers from the roof is hard to miss. One of only six pre-Civil War courthouses in the state, it has been placed on the National Register of Historic Places and is certainly one of the most important historical sights in the Murfreesboro area.
