There are picnic sites already av ... moreailable and it's right there in the city so there's no need to take a long drive out to the country to have a real back to nature experience. The lakes provide a beautiful backdrop, and there aren't a lot of people running around, making it a fairly peaceful place to enjoy your meal.

One of the best places for kids in Independence has to be the Cool Crest Family Fun Center. They have an enormous video game arcade, miniatu ... morere golf course, go0karts, batting cages and the pizza is tasty as well. You should go early and plan to stay the day in order to give your kids the chance to enjoy everything there. It can get costly though, especially in the arcade, though if you buy game tokens in bulk you can get a discount.
