  • Established in 1927 as the Museum of Natural History and Antiquities, the Museum of Discovery is the oldest Museum in Little Rock. Founded by Bernie Babcock, Little Rock author and social activist, the museum was located in City Hall and moved to the old Arsenal Building in MacArthur Park in 1942. For many years, the museum remained a part of the City of Little Rock. Eventually, it was incorporated as a tax-exempt corporation with its own governing Board. The City, however, has continued to provide financial support and the facility in which the museum is located. The museum was originally accredited by the American Association of Museums in 1993 and was reaccredited in 2001.
