I go back every few years

Archeology and reconstruction began at Michilimackinac in 1959 and continues today. They have a large friendly, knowledgeable staff. They are in costume and play music, cook, fire the guns, etc. The archeologists will stop and tell you what they are doing and show you recent finds. Lots of history

I was suprised at how much history there was to see at the forts. The fort in the city is a recreated for where they are currently digging up artififacts and rebuilding the fort as it once was. They don't leave you asking for more when you visit Fort Michilimackinac! Your tour starts with a 13 minute video of the history of the fort--all with costumed re-enactments.
