Across Stone Harbor's causeway bridge lies the 6,000 acre Wetlands Institute, a series of salt marshes, boardwalks, viewing platforms, and educational facilities and programs pertaining to the conservation and preservation of coastal ecosystems. The institute offers opportunities for self-guided wetlands tours and birding, along with an indoor salt-water aquarium featuring horseshoe crabs, sea-horses and moon snails" (Moon Handbooks).
