Asheville’s first mansion and oldest surviving dwelling is the Smith-McDowell House. Located on the grounds of the Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College, this historic home is open Wednesday through Sundays for the public to tour for a minimal admission charge. During the holiday season, the house has special Victorian Christmas Light tours with costumed guides.
