Built in 1852 by a wealthy Wilmington business man named Zebulon Latimer, the Latimer House has housed the Historical Society of Lower Cape Fear since the 1960s. Guided tours of the house’s 14 rooms and more than 600 historical objects are offered Monday through Saturday and led by knowledgable docents.
