There is plenty of fine pre-Civil War architecture on display in Murfreesboro, but the crowning achievement is certainly the Oaklands Historic House Museum. Built in a classic Italianate style, this plantation and home were first built in 1818. The mansion has a story all it own, providing a rich and important narrative of life in the South in both pre- and post-Civil War times. This home has been placed on the National Register of Historic Places. Tours are offered Tuesday through Sunday.
