There is currently a 5 MPH maximum speed limit established for all of Folsom Lake for public safety concerns due to hazardous conditions caused by low water conditions. The 5 mph speed limit is necessary because the low water level has exposed rocks and sand bars throughout the lake placing boaters at increased risk. This temporary speed limit will be removed once the lake level goes above 400 feet in elevation. Go to http://cdec.water.ca.gov/cgi-progs/queryFx?FOL for current reservoir elevations. The Boat Ramp of the Negro Bar Unit of Lake Natoma will be closed for construction for several months starting on August 15, 2007. Alternate launch facilities are available at Willow Creek and Nimbus Flat. Motorized watercraft can launch at Willow Creek and travel upstream. Non-motorized watercraft can launch at Willow Creek or Nimbus Flat. All other areas of Negro Bar will remain open during the rehabilitation of the Boat Ramp.
