Part of Mendocino Headlands State Park, Big River Beach is one of two publicly accessible beaches at the park. Just south of Mendocino, the beach is located where the Big River meets the Pacific Ocean, giving visitors plenty of space to enjoy the sun and sand on a nice day. Kayaking and canoeing are two popular activities, and the area reportedly has some delicious wild blackberries, which grow in the late summer.

Hillside covered with ferns, serene surroundings, generally easy walking, impressive redwoods (albeit second growth) and it is the perfect recipe for a couple hour stroll. more on TripAdvisor

The bathrooms are spaced further than in the other campgrounds, but they were clean and the showers provided terrific hot water pressure. more on TripAdvisor
