When travelers drive along California's Interstate-80 on their way to Lake Tahoe, they're actually driving through part of Donner Memorial State Park. Within this Sierra Nevada park, there's hiking, boating, skiing, camping, and plenty of other outdoor pursuits available. At the Emigrant Museum in the park, visitors can learn the tale of the ill-fated Donner Party, who passed through this part of the Sierras in the mid-1800s when a particularly nasty winter storm blew through the area.
