Nice ride, horses are well-cared for.

We visited Estes Park in early June 2006 and wanted to take a horseback ride sometime during our stay. I've been riding for almost 20 years and am very experienced, having worked on ranches and guest ranches in the past as well as training and showing my own horses. My husband, however, has never been on a horse in his life! We decided on National Park Gateway Stables after doing some searching. After checking out some other area stables where the horses looked unhealthy and unhappy, we were pleased to see them looking healthy and reasonably content at this establishment. Their tack seemed to be safe and well-fitting, slickers/raincoats for each rider were provided in case of inclement weather, and the animals looked as happy as can be expected carrying strangers (most of whom can't ride) around all day.
