Dogs are allowed at this scenic, environmentally educational refuge where several endangered species are protected. Dogs must be kept on a short leash at all times and cleaned up after. They are not allowed in the back country islands ... more on DogFriendly.com

We've been to the Key Deer Refugee several times. Each time, we find the deer in different places. We've had luck on No Name Key (Watson Rd) - all the way to the dead end. Probably the best two spots ... more on TripAdvisor

Just off the main highway on Big Pine Key, follow the signs to the Refuge Visitor Center where you can pick up a map to the most likely places to see the key deer. We saw at least 8-10 of them ... more on TripAdvisor
