Great for backpackers (esp small groups), condition varies

I spent two nights in the Haleakala cabins: the first night in Paliku and the second in Holua cabin. I did not stay in Kapalaoa cabin (but did hike past it on my way to Paliku.) Both cabins were pleasant, but Holua was in much better shape than Paliku. Kapalaoa had some bees outside (we ate there), but the other cabins only had ... janinep, a user of Tripadvisor. Directions

Haleakala National Park extends from the 10,023 foot (3055m) summit of Haleakala down the southeast flank of the mountain to the Kipahulu coast near Hana. These two sections of the park are not directly connected by road, but both can be reached from Kahu
