The Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore is a beautiful national park where you can walk along the beach, hike along marked trails and up a living sand dune famous for its desert-like appearance, Mt. Baldy. The national park is unfortunately listed as one of the 25 parks most threatened by climate change with the dunes creeping inland at an alarming pace. It is ranked seventh in plant diversity among all national parks in the US with over 1,135 native plant species.
