Because this refuge lies near the convergence of four rivers, it's a premium birdwatching site. Hundreds of thousands of birds migrate through here annually; in addition to swans, ducks, and geese, careful watchers may spot bald eagles and more. Even for those not drawn by the birds, the preserve is a great place to visit: it has miles of hiking trails and boating facilities, too.
