About four miles west of Sag Harbor is the 187-acre Elizabeth Morton National Wildlife Refuge. The refuge overlooks Peconic and Noyack Bays, and features sandy and rocky beaches, wooded bluffs, ponds, and nature trails. It's also a nesting spot for the endangered piping plover" (Moon Handbooks).
