The DuBois Center has a special history: opened in 1926 as a school to serve the African American population in Wake Forest during segregation, it has stood the test of time and remains an important institution in the Wake Forest community. Though it sat vacant for a time, it was converted into a community center and has been placed on the National Register of Historic Places. Now it mostly servest the community through parks and recreation; as a visitor to the area you might want to stop by to see an important part of local and state history.
