The Currituck Beach Lighthouse is one of seven original North Carolina coastal lighthouses and offers an awesome panorama of the beautiful Corolla area and the dazzling Atlantic beyond. In operation since 1875, there is a good deal of state history - especially in regards to maritime activities - on display at the lighthouse. It's a climb to the top - but well worth the view.

It is what it is. Unless you are going to do the climb to the top, then I woulnd't really bother. It's a nice area, but nothing special. Costs seven dollars ... more on TripAdvisor

Stunning views from the lighthouse, both on your way up looking out the windows and once at the top. You can see the sound and ocean sides. It's beautiful. They have a small "museum" on the first floo ... more on TripAdvisor

We were supposed to drive from Norfolk Va, to Nags Head, and continue south to Ocracoke, but to learn about how the ferry there worked, we stopped at a tourist centre in Norfolk, and asked about this. ... more on TripAdvisor

Just try it, and don't forget your camers, but bring along plenty of endurance (to climb up the never-ending spiral stairs!) more on TripAdvisor
