Almost 2,000 acres of preserved land lie within Round Valley's borders. It's prime territory for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. Those planning on an active day in summer should beware, as it's not unusual for temperatures to exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit. The park is an important habitat for such notable species as burrowing owls, golden eagles, and the San Joaquin kit fox.
