Ala Moana, or ""Path to the Sea,"" is one of the best family parks on O'ahu. With over one hundred acres of beach and recreational areas, in addition to thirty acres of the adjacent Aina Moana, this beach park is perfect for a family day out. Typically, this is a pretty safe beach for swimming, but parents should still be cautious -- weak swimmers may not do well with tidal changes and winds that can cause strong currents. This beach is also frequently busy, so it may be best to come on a weekday when the crowd is less prevalent.
