Also in Abita Springs, the Abita Brew Pub is within sight of the trace, and that is a great place for lunch or supper, and inside you will be treated to a wonderful wall mural of the trace. more on Yahoo! Travel

If you go through Abita Springs please do yourself a favor and stop by the bicycle-friendly UCM Museum, and if you are lucky enough to catch the owner there (John Preble), please tell him hello. more on Yahoo! Travel

To detour would have you getting onto Hwy 190, a two-lane high speed highway, with a rocky shoulder that is not suited at all for bicycle tires. more on Yahoo! Travel

From there you can take another break and sit in the shade and watch the boats go out to the lake and come back in. more on Yahoo! Travel
