On January 3, 1777, following the Second Battle of Trenton, General Washington and his troops headed toward Princeton, encountering Lord Cornwallis and his army in what is considered to be the Revolutionary War's fiercest battle for its size. Princeton Battlefield State Park commemorates the battle...comprised on 100 mostly wide-open acres, the park offers a nice reprieve from downtown Princeton" (Moon Handbooks).
It's a shame that the Institute of Advanced Studies is planning on building on a portion of it and the Clarke House is starting to decay. more on Yahoo! Travel
