  • * Appalachian Trail Adventures is a hiking and wellness spa that provides daily guided hikes for all levels (even first-timers) throughout Vermont's Green Mountains, and particularly along the Appalachian Trail and the Long Trail, the oldest long distance hiking trail in the country. A.T. Adventures offers an all-inclusive vacation: accommodations, spa cuisine, guided hikes (followed by excursions to quaint villages), stretch and water aerobics classes, and daily yoga class. Evening activities include lectures and demonstrations on cooking, nutrition, stress management, Vermont and New England history, and movies on hiking-related topics. A.T. Adventures houses guests at the country-style, 32-acre Cortina Inn and Resort, which has a spa and air-conditioned rooms. Employees of the program and the resort speak Portuguese, Spanish, German, French, and Hindi. A la carte activities include massage, acupuncture, cymatherapy (sound therapy), personal training sessions, consultations with a registered dietician, canoeing, kayaking, fly fishing, tennis lessons, horseback riding, rock climbing, and mountain biking. A number of specialty programs are offered: Peak Bagging Program: Offers advanced hikers the opportunity to trek Vermont's five 4,000-foot-high mountains. Those who climb all five-in the hiking community referred to as a ""peak bagging""--are awarded a certificate of accomplishment. Vermont's Vista and Village Vacation: Takes intermediate and novice hikers to a number of the state's scenic vistas, including a waterfall, historical mine, and beautiful lake.
