amazing piece of history in beautiful surroundings

I visited the Carnton Plantation in may 2003, on a humid and very very wet day. I knew little about the Civil WAr and was concerned that this may mean that i did dont get as much from the visit as would the american friends i was travelling with ...i could not have been more wrong!
