my kids, ages 10 and 7, enjoyed desolation trail very much, the rock formations were amazing, they stop along the way to look at some interesting plants and insects and the views are spectacular. more on GoCityKids

Downtown, temple square is pretty nice with the tabernacle choir practices which most of the time anyone is free to watch, and around temple square there are museums of history of the pioneers, there is the newly built conference center which is pretty impressive, the genealogy center which is really impressive, and just north of the Temple, there is Capitol Hills with fantastic views of the city and the valley. more on GeckoGo
