I enjoyed it

Air and Space in Downtown (ASD) vs Air and Space Udar-Huzay (ASUH) in Dulles. One of my fave musuems is the ASD. I love flying, flight, etc. I recently (within the past week) went to ASUH and here are my impressions. ASD and ASUH are DIFFERENT but with similar themes -- air and space. For ASD, I love seeing the exhibits that explain air and space as it developed through time. To me the ASUH is more planes and aircraft that don't ... Kvandy, a user of Tripadvisor. This can be a great day trip.

We just took my husband to the new NASM in Chantilly to celebrate his 50th birthday. Parking was very easy, and while you do pay a fee to park, there is no admission to the museum itself. Udvar-Hazy is Ho Hum

I would not recommend this as a museum to go out of your way to visit. I think even hard-core aviation afficianados will find this place a sleeper. If I could pick one word to describe it, it would be "sterile". It's a long drive (if you are in D.C. as a tourist) and it's quite a haul for a lot of people who actually live in the metropolitan area. Overall, I wasn't impressed by the types of aircraft displayed. The B-1 is OK, as is the Concord and space shuttle. But previous poster is right - why can't they at least provide a platform and let people take a peek inside?? Everything in this museum is very "hands off" - ... 2Travelers2go, a user of Tripadvisor.
